Door delivery is not a complete scope. US furniture buyers should name the Incoterm, importer of record, duty owner, broker and receiving conditions before comparing supplier or forwarder quotes.
The decision
EXW can look simple on a supplier invoice, but the buyer or forwarder must coordinate factory pickup, export eligibility and all transport after collection. For multiple Foshan suppliers, EXW requires especially clear pickup windows and package readiness.
FOB is useful when the buyer controls the ocean freight and US import side. The named port and handoff still matter. FOB does not include US customs, duties, destination charges or delivery to a warehouse.
Execution details
DAP can fit an established US importer that wants the seller or forwarder to arrange transport to a named warehouse or site while the buyer handles import clearance and duties. The delivery address, appointment and unloading conditions must be stated.
DDP places more import execution and cost responsibility on the seller. For furniture, that promise should follow a review of HTS classification, product compliance, customs value, trade remedies, importer structure, destination access and final-mile charges.
Pre-shipment check
Every quote should identify the Incoterm and named place, China pickup scope, consolidation, export declaration, freight, insurance, importer of record, broker, duty owner, destination handling, appointment, liftgate and unloading. Without those lines, two all-in prices may cover very different services.
